Space Team Expansion details! A new stretch goal & our first social mini-game! A live stream with the designers! More!
about 3 years ago – Fri, Feb 26, 2021 at 01:31:07 AM

Hello Racers,

let's start this update with a bang: the first stretch goal we revealed, the Turbo Bot, has finally been unlocked thanks to the more than 100 backers who reshared our facebook post!

This additional Racecar (meeple + tile) will be added to the core game, increasing the number of cars that you will receive to 7. With the Turbo Bot unlocked, it's time to reveal a new stretch goal. Introducing a whole new game mechanism... Power cards!

Power cards are one-time game bonuses that you can acquire – and then use – during the race. When you play with Power cards, during setup, you randomly deal a number of cards equal to the number of players, plus 1. You also place the Power token next to the track, at the edge between the first and the second racetrack board, marking a "power line".

When you cross the line marked by the Power token, you can draw 1 Power card of your choice among those currently available... this means that the faster player to cross the "power line" will also be the first to choose their Power card!

All Power cards are immediately discarded after use, but they can trigger all sorts of effects... for example, with the Crank Charger you can immediately recover 2 Battery tokens. The Bucket of Toys Power card allows you to place 2 Toy tokens on the track, which will then act as additional obstacles for all players. The Pins Power card allows you to place 2 Pin tokens, instead, and Pins are even more vicious: if you run over one, you not only stop your movement and take damage (like with a regular obstacle), but you'll also see all of your movements reduced by 1 for the remainder of this round!

To unlock this stretch goal, you'll need to beat our first "social mini-game" (if you followed one of our previous campaigns, you can already imagine what to expect). This time, you'll have to solve the puzzle below.

As you can see, there are 3 racecars, and you are in control of the Time Machine, which is currently racing in third position with 2 Battery tokens. There are also 3 pre-solved puzzle controllers (each marked with a letter – A, B, or C). You need to find which is the only controller that will allow you to overtake all other cars and get to the first position of the race! Remember: will also need to apply the special ability of your car!

When you think you have the correct answer, post a comment below this update (not on the main campaign page) simply stating which controller you choose: A, B, or C! If we'll see at least 20 correct answers, we will unlock a set of 7 Power cards (and the associated tokens)!

In other news... today at 18:00 CET / 12pm EST we'll be hosting the first of a series of live streamed games with the designers of Tiny Turbo Cars and other guests! We'll also answer to your questions in real time during the stream, so don't miss it when it goes live!

Click here to get to the YouTube live stream. Streams also available on our Facebook and Twitch channels.

Today's game will be joined by two of the designers of the game: Laura Severino, one fourth of the designer collective 4Brains4Games (also known for the games Michael and Dice Scrapers), and Hjalmar Hach (also designer of Photosynthesis, Railroad Ink, The King's Dilemma, and more). Renato Sasdelli, project manager for Tiny Turbo Cars, will also join the fray.

And remember, starting from tomorrow you'll also be able to join us at Castle Tricon 2021: Spring Edition,  the digital convention that we are co-hosting with Heidelbär Games and  Czech Games Edition where you'll be able to virtually meet with our friends and fans and play Tiny Turbo Cars with our demo people (and a lot of other games, of course). The event is free for all to attend – so come join us and let's have some fun! You can get your free ticket at this link.

To round up this update, we'd like to start giving you more details about the gameplay contents of the various add-ons available for this campaign (which are all also included in the Collector's Edition of the game, a.k.a. the Kickstarter-exclusive "big box" edition containing everything in one single box).

Today we start with the Space Team Expansion. It contains 3 additional Racecars (tiles, meeples, and some additional tokens) and 2 Junction boards (also coming with some tokens, more on these later).

The Speed Rover is capable of using inertia to get free movements, just like in the vacuum of space. Every time you move more than 2 spaces with 1 single command, you gain 1 Inertia token. At the end of your turn, you may discard any number of Inertia tokens to move 1 additional space in any direction for each Inertia token spent this way.

The Robotron is a futuristic vechicle controlled by an A.I. obsessed with speed. Its highly efficient cognitive processes allow it to apply more commands than normal... but that also means that you have to really care about what those two additional commands will do, or pay the consequences!

The Blargop is a mysterious alien creature with a peculiar passion: bouncing its U.F.O. against the edges of the track! Or maybe it simply doesn't like going straight... there's a good side to this, though. If the Blargop start a diagonal movement at one of the lateral edges of the track, it will move 2 additional spaces in that direction!

The Space Team Expansion also includes 2 Junction boards. Junctions are short, optional track extensions that you can place between two regular track boards during the setup of the game. Each Junction comes with its peculiar gameplay mechanisms / hazards! Here are a few examples:

  • The Robot Track Junction also comes with a Robot token. The Robot can move along the track (from left to right and vice versa) and it is sensible to the movements of car that pass next to it. When this happens, the Robot moves 2 spaces towards the direction of the car that just passed by... and it acts is a moving impassable space!
  • The Teleport Warp Junction, instead, has 2 Teleport spaces. When you enter a Teleport space, you may instantly move your racecar to the other!

We will reveal more details regarding the other add-ons in future updates. Until next time!

about 3 years ago – Thu, Feb 25, 2021 at 01:01:39 AM

Hello Racers,

we have a new stretch goal to reveal to day... and the best part is that we are unlocking it directly! All of the racecar meeples (core game and expansions alike) will now be enriched with silk-screen printing! We're still working on some of the graphics, but since you've been asking in the comments about this, we decided to reveal it early. Take a look!

We're also closing in on our first stretch goal, the Turbo Bot! This additional Racecar (meeple + tile) will be unlocked if we reach 100 reshares on this Facebook post... and only 30 reshares are missing at the time of writing! We're almost there!

One final news: we are pleased to invite you all to Castle Tricon 2021: Spring Edition, a digital convention that we are co-hosting with Heidelbär Games and Czech Games Edition! This innovative online board gaming convention is happening on February 26–27 2021. During this unique event, you'll be able to meet with our friends and fans, share background stories, and play a lot of games (including Tiny Turbo Cars, of course)!

The event is free for all to attend – so come join us and let's have some fun! We will have demo people that can explain the game to you and assist you while you play, and we will also host a few livestreamed games of Tiny Turbo Cars, with game designers and surprise guests–we'll share more info on the precise schedule in the coming days. You can get your free ticket at this link.

We hope you'll all join us at Castle Tricon 2021: Spring Edition!

Until next time!

the Horrible team

We're funded! Thanks, everyone! And now, let's unlock some stretch goals...

Hello Racers,

just a few hours after our launch have passed, and we're already funded! Thanks you so much for your support, we hope many more racers will join the fray in the coming weeks. Let's also start unlocking a few stretch goals now, shall we? 😉

If you've joined some of our previous campaigns, you'll know that we don't do the usual stretch goals tied to reaching a certain funding level. We'll have a couple of "social stretch goals" in the first few days of the campaign, while the others will be obtained through special mini-games that we will post in future updates. Stay tuned!

Our first stretch goal is... the Turbo Bot, an additional Racecar (meeple + tile)! When you race with the Turbo Bot and you use the Turbo command, you always move 4 spaces forward, regardless of how many Battery tokens you have, but beware... if you take damage because of that command, you lose 2 Battery tokens instead of 1! The Turbo Bot racecar will be unlocked if we reach 100 reshares on this Facebook post! Help us spread the word about the project AND get an additional car to race, it's a WIN-WIN situation!

It's late in the night here in Italy, so we'll take some rest and go to sleep. See you tomorrow... with a new stretch goal reveal!

Until next time! Rev up your engines and race into the danger zone!

Sincerely,

the Horrible team
